Refugee Boy by Benjamin Zephaniah
Alem's father is Ethiopian and his mother is Eritrean. These African countries are at war with each other and the family is threatened with death in both countries. Alem is taken on a holiday to England by his father who then disappears. Alem is left alone. As he tries to understand what has happened to him and his family, things just get worse.
I could not put this book down, I kept hoping things would work out for Alem. I felt sad for him because he was so powerless to change what was happening, and angered by the system that made his life even more horrible.
If you have every wondered why we should take in refugees, you must read this book!
